How do I tell a 5-volume epic, in 5 lines? What are the essential words and emotions? What are the key events that can be painted?
A workshop that looks at the combination of our primary storytelling mechanisms, images and writing. The goal will be to learn how we can tell engaging stories in the shortest form possible, using very simple drawings, and minimal sentences, with just the basic materials of pencil and paper, so that we focus only on the core of the story.
About the Artist
Vivek Ram has a vast experience of over 23 years in the animation industry. A self-taught artist, Vivek has worked with some of the biggest companies in the VFX and Animation space, such as Rhythm and Hues Studios and Dreamworks Animation, on highly acclaimed Hollywood features such as Superman Returns, Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, The Incredible Hulk, Madagascar, Penguins of Madagascar to name a few. One of them, The Golden Compass, also won the Academy Award for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Motion picture. He has also been a very active member of the animation community in India, engaging with artists and studios through various seminars, presentations and festivals.
Currently Vivek wears multiple hats in the industry. He is currently the Creative Supervisor at Assemblage Entertainment pvt. Ltd., Senapati at Vaanarsena Studios and Senapati at Vaanarsena School, working towards a collective goal of telling engaging original stories with high quality 2D, 3D animation & comics and to help grow the industry through free education.
