Animation 2079: Speculative Futures is a live documentary performance by ‘Elsewhere in India’. It is set in 2079 AD, where cultural cyborg Meenakshi and her sidekicks fight to preserve disappearing heritage of Indian media with its history of animation and video games.
Drawing from archives of Indian animation, public domain material and contributions from animators, the show combines electronic music, motion-captured dance, AI art and 3D game worlds to create a poignant statement on animation's future.
A speculative journey that asks: in an age of algorithmic content, why must we fight hard to preserve the soul of animation and the stories it holds?
